Tree Planting at Goodies

Since 2022 we have been planning and plotting to get more trees on Goodies Farm. Our aim is to create all year-round habitat, feeding and beauty around the land with successional flowering trees and bushes & nature corridors that connect exist bush and slow down salinity. We have joined in with Wide Open Agriculture & Dirty Clean Food for a combined Carbon Project.

We started Tree planting in 2023 and had an amazing Great Southern Activate Tree Planting Weekend in July. The energy of 60 passionate people with their families brought so much joy to us and the land and we cannot wait to invite more people to plant trees on an ongoing basis. The Great Southern Activate Crew organised the most wonderful food, music, entertainment and created such a fun, drink & drug free family friendly event. A huge thank you to Rhian and her gang of tree coordinators and kitchen witches. See the amazing roundup video from last year’s event https://fb.watch/r0RGMm_rbT/

We also have an infill bush project happening with Greening Australia, led by Glen Stephens and we were pleased to see so many wildflowers and orchids come up with the ground disturbance.

In 2024, we had Keith Bradby, CEO of Gondwana Link, come and have a look at our planting sites and make suggestions for what to do in the areas where trees haven’t survived. We also want to diversify even more what varieties of trees we have and hope to do some direct seeding that will establish next to trees that have already had a year’s head start. We look forward to seeing the beauty on our land grow with each passing year and more wildlife return to these paddocks.
